what lies in the name

What lies in the name- just below the quotation we find Shakespear.
Is the statement radical or ironical? Do you think this statement has any meaning these days? Absolutely absurd quote at least in today’s world. Where everything from the micro level to huge articles like bungee jumping machine and its rope etc. Almost every article runs by its name. we go by name, we trust by name and we feel secured by name. Film star aamir khan produced a movie named peepli [live], housefull, aamir khan tweets in twitter asking how was the movie, thousands of appraisals queued up. Though in true sense the movie was not upto the mark, to be shown for commercial purpose. He again, (lets mention the name as everything lies in name its aamir khan) posted how was peepli [live], in his facebook account thousands of liked comments gushed within hour of posting.  Its not that all the comments were pseudo-hallucination. But may be some were? Its because now the film is categorized in a flop. Kites though get …

sautantrta divas 2010

journalism a supporting hand

What if that Kevin carter the winner of Pulitzer award for the file photo taken during sudan famine 1994 would have taken that little boy with him and would have admitted him into a hospital? There are lot many more examples of what if like the above one? Chuhiya of bihar for UNICEF etc. What if many hundreds of reporters who are reporting about these under privileged just share a little amount of whatever they earn from showing the report in TV  through TRP, web pages through their traffic and newspaper  mill owners  through their news sale. If a particular news of about any person who is so under privilege is shown by 10 news channels and if all the tv news channels zero ground reporter donates a meagre amount of Rupees 1000 or Rupees 500 each, that person is now richer by 5000 to 10000 rupees. And i think in a country like india, this is enough for that person to live his life for four months comfortably. Leaving all the rest favours if provided to him by many NGOs’ , news report vi…

shourya saluja develops a cyber security curriculum

Shourya Saluja, a Class 12 student of Indus International School-Bangalore, is busy on the process of developing a curriculum for Classes IX to XII, which will create awareness about cyber safety. The 17 year old Shourya has got the support from technology major Infosys to design the curriculam, which will be taught first in his school and later perhaps adopted by CBSE, reports Sruthy Susan Ullas of Times of India.
The three components of the curriculum will focus on different safety issues of social networking sites. "Children disclose too much information in their profiles, they upload photos and accept random people as friends just to increase the number in their friends' list. They don't know what dangers this can lead to," said Shourya. Kids will also be taught how to protect themselves from dangers like phishing messages, things to look after in a Local Area Network (LAN), internal security.

Cyber ethics will be another subject and kids will be tutored on how t…
